Our Rigid Foam tubs take approximately 27 hours to get to maximum temperature of 40°C (104°F) - the total cost to reach maximum temperature is £11.88. The average cost of powering all of our heater units for 1 hour is £0.44 Read our Blog for more info.
Turning off your heater unit after use will cause the water temperature to drop drastically and you would have to reheat the water the next day from cold, this will use more energy to reheat from cold, compared to if you had left it running. We advise that you set the temperature to low (approx 30℃) when not in use.
They're affordable, they can be moved between indoor or outdoor locations and they're pretty straightforward to set up. An inflatable spa could be a great choice if this is your first hot tub purchase, you need a short-term spa solution or you're on a tight budget.
What is the expected lifespan of my inflatable spa? As long as instructions as per the manual are followed, Water chemistry is well maintained as well as correct filter care (including washing the filters weekly and replacing with brand new ones evey 4-6 weeks) these spas can last 2-3 years.
Energy consumption to keep your hot tub running and the water warm at the desired water temperature is lower. Much less than heating it from cold. Frequently turning it off and on or lowering and raising the temperature increases hot tub running costs.
Essentially, a spa's life span is based on a combination of two factors - spa quality and spa care. A hot tub can last anywhere from 5-20 years or more. Cheaper hot tubs made with lower quality materials won't last long. If those hot tubs are not well maintained, they may not last more than 5 years.
In essence, shocking your hot tub or swim spa means adding a higher than usual dose of oxidiser chemicals to the water. This is also known as oxidising. We advise everyone to shock their water once a week to reduce bacteria and impurities. You can do this with one of two products; chlorine shock or non-chlorine shock.
One of the most common questions our team gets asked is "should I leave my hot tub on all the time?" Quite simply, the answer is yes... your hot tub is designed to be left switched on constantly and works best when it is left on all the time. Your hot tub is at it's most efficient if left to run 24/7.
The more energy-efficient models will be on the lower end while older hot tubs and those who keep the heat going 24/7 will be on the higher end. The average hot tub is going to use approximately 7.5 kW per hour. If you're going to use your hot tub 30 hours a month, you would calculate 7.5 x 30 = 225.
On average, though, homeowners can expect to pay between $20 and $75 a month to run and maintain their hot tub. Of that, between $20 to $50 can be attributed exclusively to energy costs.
Here's the short answer: An in-ground spa will likely have little direct impact on your home's sale price. However, many buyers will be more excited about buying a home with a unique feature, such as a spa. A poorly maintained or non-functioning spa will hurt your home's value.
If you invest in a higher-quality hot tub from leading brands, such as Jacuzzi® Hot Tubs or Bullfrog® Spas, you're able to drastically increase the expected lifespan. These kinds of hot tubs generally last anywhere from 10-15 years and can easily be stretched to 20 years if you take good care of them.
Draining and refilling your spa will be an important aspect of spa ownership. Many spas need to be drained and refilled every three to four months due to chemical build-up.
In short, you shouldn't need to turn your hot tub off unless you're going away for 4 weeks or longer. If you use your hot tub infrequently, then instead of turning it off completely, we'd suggest leaving the spa running on a lower temperature.
The average cost to run a hot tub is around $20 to $100 per month or $240 to $1,200 annually in energy costs, which may vary based on size, temperature settings, and usage frequency. Modern hot tubs, especially those designed with energy efficiency in mind, can significantly lower these costs.
Used the exact same amount, a well-insulated spa pool could cost as little as $30 a month! For comparison, the low quality spa pool would take up between 43-47% of your electric bill depending on where you reside. Meanwhile, a high quality spa pool would only be 6-7% of your monthly electric bill.
When not heating, the water temperature drops up to 18% faster in competitor hot tubs. Lay-Z-Spa hot tubs overall use less energy and will in the long-run cost less to run.
