Pattern Notes

1. While working your hdc sts, don’t pull through all the 3 loops at once if that makes your stitches tight. Instead, first pull through 2 loops and then through the last loop. This will ensure that your st stays loose.

2. To join a new color at the end of a round, start working the hdc st as normal and when you have 3 loops on your hook, YO the new color and pull through the 3 loops to complete your hdc. Begin the next row with the new color joined.

With cream color yarn, ch 67. The initial chain is a multiple of 4+3.

Row 1: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across to end, turn.——-66 sc

Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as a hdc), sk next st, 2 hdc in next st, ch 1, 2 hdc in next st, *(sk 2 sts, 2 hdc in next st, ch 1, 2 hdc in next st)*, repeat from * until 2 sts are left, sk next st, 1 hdc in the last st, turn.—–16 repeats + 2 hdc sts

Row 3:Ch 2 ( counts as a hdc), sk next st, *(1 fphdc in next st, V-st in next ch-1 space, 1 fphdc in next st, sk next 2 hdc), repeat from * until 1 hdc and beginning ch-2 is left, sk next hdc, 1 hdc on top of beginning ch-2, turn.—–16 repeats + 2 hdc sts

Repeat Row 3 for 3 more rows and join the pink color while working the last hdc of the 7th row. So, you will have a total of 1 sc row and 6 shell rows in cream color now. To count the shell rows, you can count the ch-2 and hdc sts running along the edge of the blanket.

Rows 8-13: Repeat Row 3 with the pink color yarn joined and join back the cream color at the end of Row 13.

Row 14-19: Repeat Row 3 with the cream-colored yarn joined and join back the pink color at the end of Row 19.

Keep repeating Row 3, changing colors every 6 rows until you have 7 stripes, and work the last row below.

Last Cream Row: Ch 1, 1 sc in the first st, *(sc2tog across next st and ch-1 space, 1 sc in next 3 sts), repeat from * until you have 2 hdc and beginning ch left, 1 sc in next 2 hdc and into top of beginning ch-2. Fasten off.

Finishing

Weave in any tails left on the same side you worked the last row of your crochet 3d stitch blanket. Enjoy!
